Welcome to Troop 336
Troop 336 is part of the Arrowhead District of the Greater Alabama Council. We have been chartered by the Hartselle Kiwanis Club since 1968. We currently have about 50 boys and 40 adults registered with the Troop.

Troop 336 is a highly active troop. We're committed to an 'outing a month'. However, it doesn't stop there. The Troop attends, supports or conducts various other activities including service projects, flag ceremonies, parades and cub scout support.

Thank you for visiting, we hope it fulfills your needs in gathering information about Boy Scouting and our Troop.

Scouts Complete a Busy Spring Season
printer friendlyemail to someone 29News
The Scouts of Troop 336 completed a busy spring season of Eagle Projects by completing 5 Eagle Projects for various organizations.

The first project was performed at F.E. Burleson Elementary School. This project was to build a butterfly garden, build a green house and perform various gardening duties around the property. Several classes do butterfly projects throughout the school year. This project is one of several improvement projects in the area to include benches, a walkway, gardens and a performance stage.

This project was followed by a project benefiting the Neighborhood Christian Center in Decatur. This project focused on building clothes racks and sorting boxes and van loads of clothing.

Next was a project benefitting East Highland Baptist Church by building an arbor in an unused outdoor area. Various classes and the staff are expected to utilize this new outdoor addition.

The fourth project in this string was to benefit the Camp Meeting (otherwise known at the Tabernacle) in Hartselle. The project constructed a trail of about 200 feet to a stairway which they constructed. The stairway included about 30 steps and dropped down about 35 feet. This project is one part of an overall project to improve part of the property to include benches and a gazzabo.

The last project benefitted Son Rise Baptist Church. The project was to build a half basket ball court and do landscape boxes along the edge of one of the buildings. The basket ball court will benefit the youth of the church.

During the course of these 5 projects the scouts and leaders of Troop 336 logged over 800 man hours of labor in service to this community.

Summer Camp
printer friendlyemail to someone 28News
Its time to begin preparations for summer camp. This year we will be going to Camp Boxwell in Gallatin, TN (east of Nashville) on July 6 to 12.

Payment and merit badge applications should be complete (except for newly joined scouts). If you have not paid or signed up for your merit badges, please see Mr Watson to complete your registration.

During the month of June we will be focusing on preparing for summer camp. June 16's meeting will focus on Water Safety and the Buddy System. June 23's meeting will focus on Summer Camp Safety, rules, and the need to drink plenty of water. On June 30's meeting will will have our last 'shake down' prior to summer camp. Scouts should bring the gear they intend to bring to summer camp in the manner that they plan on transporting it to summer camp. Packed material will be evaluated on need, appropriateness, usefulness, etc for the scout's time at camp and also highlight items that may be missing but needed.

Each scout is required to have a newly completed Class 1 medical form completed (medical history, permission). Scouts whose class 2 medical form is out of date (3 years old) must get a physical and complete a new Class 2 form. Adults attending camp must also be sure their medical forms are up to date.

We're looking forward to another fabulous, well run summer camp put on by a historically great camp staff.

UPDATE:
All those attending should plan to be ready to go (gear loaded and lined up) at 11:00am, Sunday, July 6 at Tankersley's Gas Station (corner of Hwy 36 and Hwy 31).
